Want a job where you can make a real difference?
Vision for Education is working with a specialist school in Henbury looking for resilient, enthusiastic people to support young people who need a little extra help to get the most out of education.
You'll be working with students with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. Some may have experienced trauma, instability or difficult circumstances growing up, which can affect how they manage emotions, build relationships and engage with learning.
The role can be challenging, but it's also an opportunity to have a genuine impact on a young person's life.
No previous school or SEN experience is required. What matters is your mindset, resilience and willingness to learn. If you're patient, can stay calm under pressure and want to help young people move forward, this could be the opportunity for you.
What's in it for you?
-
£475 per week, paid through PAYE.
-
Full-time, Monday–Friday work.
-
Training courses to help you start your career in education.
-
Ongoing support and professional development.
-
Excellent opportunities for career progression.
-
Valuable experience in SEMH and behaviour support.
This is a great starting point for anyone considering a long-term career in education. You'll have the opportunity to learn from experienced staff, develop practical skills and build your confidence in a specialist setting.
What will you be doing?
Every day will be different. You'll help students engage with lessons, work through difficult moments and develop the confidence to make progress.
Your responsibilities may include:
-
Supporting students with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour.
-
Helping young people manage emotions and frustrations.
-
Building positive relationships through trust and consistency.
-
Encouraging engagement with learning and classroom activities.
-
Maintaining clear, supportive boundaries.
-
Working alongside teachers and other support staff.
Sometimes, making a difference means helping a student return to a lesson, encouraging them to try again or simply being a consistent adult they can rely on.
Who would suit this role?
We're looking for people who are resilient, dependable and ready to get stuck in.
You might have experience in care, youth work, coaching, residential support or another people-focused role. Equally, you might be looking for a completely new career.
The most important qualities are:
-
Resilience: staying calm when situations become challenging.
-
Patience: understanding that behaviour can have underlying causes.
-
Consistency: providing reliable support and clear boundaries.
-
Adaptability: being open to learning new approaches.
-
Compassion: genuinely wanting to help young people overcome barriers.
You won't be expected to know everything from day one, but you will need the right attitude, commitment and willingness to learn.
