Become a Teaching Assistant

The National Teaching Assistant Programme offers a structured route into education, combining dedicated training with the opportunity to gain real classroom experience.

You'll learn how to support pupils, work effectively alongside teachers, encourage positive behaviour, and help create an environment where every child has the opportunity to succeed.

After successfully completing the programme, you'll have the opportunity to take up a paid placement in a local primary, secondary, or SEND school.

Requirements

To be considered for the role of Trainee Teaching Assistant you will:

• Support teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons.
• Assist pupils with their learning and development.
• Help create a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
• Work with individuals and small groups of pupils.
• Promote pupil confidence, wellbeing, and achievement.
• Develop valuable classroom management and support skills.
