Vision for Education is recruiting enthusiastic and dedicated Youth Workers to work across a range of secondary schools in Derby, providing support, guidance, and encouragement to students both inside and outside the classroom.

About the role

This is an excellent opportunity for Youth Workers looking to use their skills and experience within education, gain valuable school experience, or find flexible work that fits around their commitments.

As a Youth Worker, you will:

  • Support students’ wellbeing, engagement, and personal development.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with young people.
  • Provide mentoring and pastoral support to students.
  • Help students overcome barriers to learning and improve confidence.
  • Support behaviour management and promote positive choices.
  • Assist students within the classroom and wider school environment.
  • Work alongside teaching staff, pastoral teams, and school leaders.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

Your experience as a Youth Worker means you will already have many of the skills schools value, including strong communication, resilience, relationship building, conflict resolution, and the ability to motivate and support young people.

Requirements

To be considered for the role, you will have:

  • Experience working with children or young people in a youth work, mentoring, support, or community setting.
  • Confidence supporting young people with a range of needs and backgrounds.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships and inspire confidence.
  • A professional, reliable, and enthusiastic approach.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
  • Right to work in the UK.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, and qualifications. The minimum requirement for this position is experience working with children or young people.
