About the role

Experienced SEN Teaching Assistant – Secondary Schools

Vision for Education is seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support to students in secondary schools across Bristol. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference by supporting young people with additional needs to access learning, build confidence and succeed in the classroom.

This role is offered on a flexible supply basis through Vision for Education, with opportunities for long-term and permanent placements for the right candidate.

The Role

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 support to secondary-aged students with additional learning needs.
  • Help students access lessons and complete set tasks.
  • Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Work closely with teachers and SENCOs to follow support plans.
  • Encourage independence, confidence and engagement in learning.

Requirements

To be considered for the role, you will:

  • Have previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or SEN support staff.
  • Have experience supporting children or young people with additional needs.
  • Be confident working on a 1:1 basis.
  • Be patient, resilient and adaptable.
  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one.
