Year 1/2 Teacher – 4 Days per Week

Location: YO7 Area
Salary: Dependent on experience and qualifications
Job Type: Part Time – 4 Days per Week
Start Date: December 2026
Duration: Long term

About the Role

Vision for Education is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, dedicated, and experienced Year 1/2 Teacher to work within a welcoming primary school in the YO7 area.

This is an exciting opportunity for a committed primary teacher to work 4 days per week in a mixed Year 1/2 class, supporting pupils' learning and development across Key Stage 1.

The successful candidate will deliver engaging, creative, and high-quality lessons that meet the needs of pupils across both year groups. You will play an important role in developing children's early literacy, numeracy, confidence, independence, and social skills within a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

Previous Key Stage 1 teaching experience is essential for this position. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the KS1 curriculum and be confident adapting teaching approaches to support pupils with different abilities and learning needs.

The Role

Working as part of a supportive and experienced school team, the successful Year 1/2 Teacher will be responsible for delivering effective teaching and learning across the mixed-age class.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging, creative, and effective lessons across the Year 1 and Year 2 curriculum.

  • Teaching across the KS1 curriculum, including English, mathematics, science, and foundation subjects.

  • Differentiating lessons and activities to meet the needs of pupils across both year groups.

  • Developing pupils' early reading, phonics, writing, spelling, grammar, and mathematical skills.

  • Creating a safe, inclusive, stimulating, and well-organised classroom environment.

  • Assessing and monitoring pupils' progress, identifying areas for development and additional support.

  • Maintaining high expectations for pupil achievement, behaviour, and engagement.

  • Promoting positive behaviour and encouraging pupils to develop independence, resilience, and confidence.

  • Using a range of teaching strategies to engage young learners and encourage active participation.

  • Supporting pupils at different stages of their learning and ensuring appropriate progression across both year groups.

  • Building positive relationships with pupils, colleagues, parents, and carers.

  • Working collaboratively with teaching assistants and other school staff to support pupils' learning.

  • Supporting pupils with additional needs and adapting resources and activities where appropriate.

  • Maintaining accurate records of pupils' progress and contributing to assessment and reporting.

  • Following school policies and safeguarding procedures to ensure pupils' safety and wellbeing.

The successful candidate will be adaptable, nurturing, organised, and confident teaching across Key Stage 1, with the ability to manage a mixed-age classroom and ensure all pupils are supported to achieve their potential.

The Setting

This welcoming primary school in the YO7 area is seeking an experienced Year 1/2 Teacher to join its team for 4 days per week.

The school is committed to providing a positive and inclusive learning environment where children are encouraged to develop their skills, build confidence, and enjoy learning.

Requirements

To be considered for the Year 1/2 Teacher position, you will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

  • Have previous teaching experience within Key Stage 1, which is essential.

  • Have experience teaching Year 1 and/or Year 2.

  • Have a strong understanding of the KS1 curriculum.

  • Have a good understanding of phonics, early reading, writing, and mathematics.

  • Be confident planning, delivering, and assessing engaging lessons.

  • Have experience differentiating learning for pupils of varying abilities.

  • Demonstrate strong classroom and behaviour management skills.

  • Be able to adapt teaching approaches to meet the needs of a mixed-age class.

  • Have excellent communication, organisation, and teamwork skills.

  • Be caring, proactive, flexible, and committed to raising pupil achievement.

  • Be able to build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues, and families.

  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting children's welfare.

  • Be available to work 4 days per week in the YO7 area.
