Vision for Education is currently recruiting enthusiastic, caring, and adaptable SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils across a range of specialist schools in Newport and the surrounding areas.
This is a highly rewarding opportunity for individuals looking to gain valuable experience within education, additional learning needs (ALN), child development, mental health, or care while positively impacting young people’s lives every day.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils within specialist educational settings, helping them engage with learning, develop confidence, improve communication skills, and achieve personal milestones within a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment.

The Role
You may support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs and Additional Learning Needs, including:
- MLD – Moderate Learning Difficulties
- SLD – Severe Learning Difficulties
- ASC – Autism Spectrum Condition
- SEMH – Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs
- EBD – Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties
- PMLD – Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities may include:
- Providing one-to-one and small-group support
- Assisting with classroom activities and lesson delivery
- Adapting learning resources to meet individual pupil needs
- Supporting pupils with communication, emotional regulation, and wellbeing
- Building positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents/carers
- Encouraging independence, confidence, and engagement in learning
- Working collaboratively within specialist classroom environments
- Supporting personal care routines where required

Ideal candidates will have:
- A patient, positive, and adaptable approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- The ability to manage behaviour calmly and effectively
- Experience supporting children or young people
- CACHE Level 2/3 qualifications or equivalent (desirable but not essential)
