This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting children with special educational needs and is committed to helping every pupil achieve their full potential in a positive and inclusive environment.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside the class teacher, SENCO and wider school team to provide tailored support to pupils with additional needs. You will play an important role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning, develop their confidence and become increasingly independent.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN.

  • Supporting children to access the curriculum and engage positively with learning.

  • Helping pupils develop their confidence, communication and independence.

  • Supporting the implementation of individual learning and support plans.

  • Providing emotional and behavioural support where required.

  • Building positive, trusting and professional relationships with pupils.

  • Working closely with teachers and other support staff to meet individual pupil needs.

  • Creating a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

  • Encouraging pupils to develop positive attitudes towards learning and school life.

About You

We are looking for someone who is patient, caring, resilient and passionate about working with children.

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Previous experience working with children, particularly those with SEN or additional needs.

  • A calm, patient and nurturing approach.

  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.

  • A flexible and positive attitude.

  • A genuine commitment to supporting children's learning and development.

  • A strong understanding of safeguarding and the importance of promoting children's welfare.

Previous experience in a school environment is desirable, although candidates with relevant experience in childcare, youth work, care or similar supporting roles are also encouraged to apply.

Chigwell Primary School is part of the REAch2 Academy Trust and is committed to providing a welcoming, inclusive and supportive environment where children are encouraged to learn, grow and achieve.

The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will become an important member of the school's support team, helping pupils to overcome individual barriers and ensuring they have the opportunity to participate fully in school life.
