Vision for Education are seeking a dedicated and reliable Specialist Support Assistant to work within a college based in Birmingham supporting students with SEND.

• The Role –
  Provide individualised support to students with a range of learning disabilities, autism, physical disabilities and/or complex needs.
• Support students to participate fully in lessons, activities, social opportunities and the wider college community.
• Promote students' independence, choice, dignity and self-advocacy.
• Provide appropriate levels of support with personal care, mobility, eating and drinking, where required and in accordance with individual care plans.
• Support students to develop functional life skills, communication skills, social skills and independence.
• Use agreed communication approaches, including visual supports, objects of reference, symbols, communication aids and other assistive technologies where appropriate.
• Recognise and respond appropriately to students' emotional, sensory and behavioural needs.

A specialist SEND college situated in North Birmingham, providing education and support for young people with ASD and SEMH. About you:

To be considered for the Specialist Support Assistant role, you will:

Hold suitable qualifications such as Youth Work, Health and Social Care or Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools are desired but not essential.

Have strong communications skills with the ability to quickly build rapport with students

Able to obtain suitable references and a DBS check.
