The Role
As a Trainee Teaching Assistant in an SEMH school, you will:
- Support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs both in and out of the classroom.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with young people.
- Encourage positive behaviour using consistent and supportive strategies.
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging and accessible learning activities.
- Support pupils with emotional regulation, confidence and independence.
- Help create a safe, structured and nurturing learning environment.
Requirements
We are looking for individuals who:
- Have a genuine passion for working with children and young people.
- Are patient, resilient and able to remain calm under pressure.
- Have excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Are adaptable and willing to learn.
- Have experience working with children, young people or vulnerable adults (desirable but not essential).
- Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or are willing to obtain one.
