Behaviour Mentor - Primary SEMH: Full-time role in Henbury supporting primary-aged pupils with SEMH needs and significant challenging behaviour. Resilience and relevant behaviour support experience are essential; AP experience and Team Teach/Prevent
About the role
Behaviour Mentor - Primary SEMH
Henbury, Bristol | £475 per week PAYE (dependent on qualifications)
Are you experienced in supporting children with challenging behaviour and looking for a role where you can make a genuine difference?
Vision for Education is working with a specialist primary school in Henbury, supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The setting supports pupils who may have experienced trauma, adversity or significant challenges in their lives, which can affect their emotions, relationships and engagement with learning.
The school is looking for an experienced Behaviour Mentor who can help pupils feel safe, build trusting relationships and develop positive ways to manage their emotions and behaviour. This can be a challenging environment, so resilience, consistency and the ability to stay calm under pressure are essential. It’s important not to take behaviour personally and to recognise that there is often more going on beneath the surface.
What we’re looking for:
-
Experience supporting children with significant or extreme challenging behaviour.
-
A resilient, patient and enthusiastic approach.
-
The ability to remain calm and respond positively in difficult situations.
-
Confidence building relationships while maintaining clear, consistent boundaries.
-
A genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning.
Desirable, but not essential:
-
Experience in an alternative provision (AP) setting.
-
Team Teach, de-escalation or Prevent training.
The right experience and attitude are what matter most. Additional training and support can be provided, so you don’t need to hold every qualification listed above.
What’s on offer?
-
£475 per week, paid through PAYE (dependent on qualifications).
-
A rewarding role making a real difference to primary-aged pupils.
-
Opportunities to develop your skills in SEMH and behaviour support.
-
Access to training and ongoing professional development.
-
Support from your dedicated Vision for Education consultant.
If you have the resilience and experience to support children through challenging moments and help them move forward, we’d love to hear from you.
