Vision for Education are seeking a HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistant) with a background of supporting students with SEND to work within SEND schools.

About the role

Vision for Education are seeking a HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistant) with a backgroundof supporting students with SEND to work within SEND schools.

The school –

  • A school located in central Birmingham, with easy access via public transport
  • Pupils aged 4-11
  • A supportive and welcoming school environment, ensuring the pupils needs are always met academically, socially and emotionally

The role -

  • Support students with a range of SEND needs to access learning and achieve their individual targets.
  • Plan, deliver and evaluate learning activities under the direction of teaching staff.
  • Lead whole-class, small-group and one-to-one interventions as required.
  • Promote students independence, confidence, communication and social development.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, parents and external professionals.
  • Monitor, record and report on pupil progress and wellbeing.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of EHCP targets and support plans.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive and safe learning environment.
  • Support the management of behaviour using positive language and approach.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to teaching assistants where appropriate.
  • Assist with personal care and medical needs where required.
  • Uphold safeguarding, health and safety, and SEND policies at all times.

About you:

To be considered for the HLTA role, you will:

  • HLTA qualification (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND.
  • Strong communication, organisational and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to inclusive education and achieving the best outcomes for every pupil.
  • Able to obtain suitable references and a DBS check.
