  • Undertake regular checks of buildings, grounds, equipment and facilities
  • Identify and address maintenance and health and safety issues, escalating more complex matters when necessary
  • Help ensure the school premises are secure and ready for use each day
  • Assist with opening and locking up the school site as required
  • Carry out general grounds maintenance and keep external areas tidy and presentable
  • Support with deliveries, moving equipment and furniture, and preparing rooms for school activities

  • Liaise with contractors and school staff when maintenance or site work is taking place
  • Follow the school's health, safety and safeguarding procedures at all times

  • Strong general DIY and maintenance skills
  • A good understanding of workplace health and safety
  • The ability to identify problems and take appropriate action
  • A flexible and proactive approach to your work
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and alongside a wider team
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for one

Desirable Experience

The following would be advantageous but are not essential:

  • Previous experience working within a school or other educational environment
