SEND Teaching Assistant – Full Time – September 2026

Skelton TS12 – £92.56 per day

Vision for Education is looking to appoint a full-time Teaching Assistant to join our successful supply team and work within a welcoming primary school in the Skelton TS12 area.

This is a full-time role, working Monday to Friday 8:30am until 3:30pm. The successful candidate will provide general classroom support to support SEN (asd, adhd, behaviour) children throughout lower school individually and in small groups as part of the nurture team.

The role will commence in September 2026 and is ongoing, with the potential to become long-term depending on the needs of the school.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications.

The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position is a Level 3 qualification or above in Teaching and Supporting Learning. Previous experience supporting pupils within SEND is desirable.

The Role

Working as part of a supportive and enthusiastic teaching team, the desired Teaching Assistant will provide high-quality support within a Nurture setting.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting pupils during whole-class learning activities.
  • Working with small groups to reinforce learning and promote progress.
  • Providing targeted support to individual pupils where required.
  • Assisting the class teacher with the preparation of resources and classroom activities.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement in lessons.
  • Supporting pupils in developing key literacy, numeracy, and social skills.
  • Helping to create a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.

The successful candidate will be proactive, adaptable, and able to build positive relationships with both pupils and staff.

Requirements

To be considered for the Year 5 Teaching Assistant position, you will:

  • Hold a minimum Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools.
  • Have experience working as a Teaching Assistant within a primary school setting.
  • Have experience supporting pupils within Key Stage 2, particularly Year 5
  • Be confident supporting small-group and whole-class learning activities.
  • Have a genuine desire to become part of a committed and supportive school team.
  • Be able to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
  • Demonstrate a positive and flexible approach to supporting children's learning.
