About the Role

Vision for Education are looking to recruit a dedicated and enthusiastic Year 5/6 Teacher to work on a part-time basis across a range of welcoming trust schools in and around the DL5 area.

This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate and committed teacher who enjoys working with pupils in Key Stage 2 and is dedicated to creating engaging, inclusive, and stimulating learning experiences.

You will have the opportunity to work within different school environments, teaching pupils across Year 5 and Year 6, while working closely with school staff to ensure positive outcomes for every child.

The successful candidate will be an adaptable, enthusiastic, and nurturing teacher who can confidently deliver high-quality lessons, support pupil progress, and build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents/carers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons across the Key Stage 2 curriculum.
  • Teach across Year 5 and Year 6, adapting lessons to meet individual learning needs.
  • Support pupils' progress in reading, writing, mathematics, and the wider curriculum.
  • Prepare pupils effectively for the transition to secondary school.
  • Differentiate learning activities to ensure all pupils can access the curriculum.
  • Assess and monitor pupil progress, providing appropriate feedback and support.
  • Create a positive, safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment.
  • Promote positive behaviour and support pupils' wellbeing.
  • Encourage pupils to develop independence, confidence, resilience, and a love of learning.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, teachers, and other school staff.
  • Maintain high expectations of pupil achievement, behaviour, and engagement.
  • Adapt to the needs and expectations of different schools and settings within the trust.
  • Follow school policies and contribute positively to the wider school community.

What We're Looking For

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
  • Experience teaching within Year 5 or Year 6 is desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of the Key Stage 2 curriculum.
  • Experience preparing pupils for SATs is desirable.
  • A genuine passion for teaching and helping children achieve their potential.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
  • A patient, supportive, and nurturing approach.
  • Flexibility and adaptability when working across different school settings.
  • Reliability and a proactive attitude.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
