About the Role

Working in partnership with local schools, Vision for Education is looking to recruit a committed and experienced Teaching Assistant to provide full-time sickness cover in the YO7 area, with an immediate start.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Teaching Assistant who is caring, enthusiastic, reliable, and passionate about supporting children's learning and development.

You will work alongside the class teacher to provide support within a welcoming primary school environment, helping pupils develop their confidence, independence, communication, social skills, and academic progress.

The successful candidate will be required to provide full-time cover for a staff member who is absent due to sickness. The role is available to start immediately and offers an opportunity to gain valuable experience working within a supportive school setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the class teacher in providing a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.

• Assist with whole-class, small-group, and one-to-one learning activities.

• Support pupils with literacy, numeracy, and wider curriculum learning.

• Encourage pupils to develop confidence, independence, and positive relationships.

• Support classroom routines, transitions, and daily activities.

• Promote positive behaviour using consistent and appropriate strategies.

• Adapt learning activities and resources to meet individual pupils' needs.

• Provide additional support to pupils who require targeted assistance.

• Help prepare and organise classroom resources and learning activities.

• Work collaboratively with the class teacher and wider school team.

• Promote an inclusive environment where every child feels safe, supported, and valued.

• Maintain a caring, patient, and professional approach throughout the school day.

What We're Looking For

• A relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable.

• Previous experience working within a primary school setting is highly desirable.

• A genuine passion for supporting children's learning and development.

• A nurturing, patient, and reliable approach.

• The ability to build positive relationships with children and staff.

• Good communication and teamwork skills.

• The ability to adapt support to meet pupils' individual needs.

• Flexibility and commitment to working full-time.

• Availability to start immediately.
